titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR PREPARING A CYCLOALCANOL |
abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a cycloalkanol, according to which a cycloalkene is reacted in a first phase with sulfuric acid while in a second phase the obtained adduct is hydrolyzed to form the cycloalkanol. . After the reaction of cycloalkene with sulfuric acid, the reaction mixture is separated in the presence of an inert solvent for the adduct of cycloalkene and sulfuric acid - which in the reaction mixture of the first phase gives due to the presence of unconverted sulfuric acid - in order to obtain a layer of sulfuric acid and a layer of solvent, the layer of sulfuric acid then being removed and the layer of solvent subjected to hydrolysis treatment. The process according to the invention is particularly suitable for the preparation of cyclododecanol from cyclododecene. |
