abstract | The invention relates to the synthetic polymer industry. Process for the manufacture of a low molecular weight polymer or copolymer, of a number average molecular weight of 300 to 10,000, of conjugated diolefins alone or in admixture with a copolymerizable vinyl monomer, according to which metallic or compound sodium is used organic sodium as polymerization initiator, an alkaryl compound as chain transfer agent and an inert hydrocarbon as solvent, characterized in that 0.05 to 10 mole% per mole of polymerization initiator is added to the polymerization reactor . Application to the production of low liquid polymers of butadiene and isoprene or of their copolymers with styrene and alpha -methylstyrene. |
