titleOfInvention | HYDROGENATION OF GLYCERIDE OILS |
abstract | The invention relates to a process for the hydrogenation of a glyceride oil, which comprises subjecting said oil to hydrogenation in a hydrogenation zone with gaseous hydrogen, in the presence of more than 0.02% of catalyst d. hydrogenation with nickel and more than about 0.25% by weight of an auxiliary copper-chromite catalyst, said oil being contaminated with 0.01 to about 0.25% by weight of soap, the concentration of said auxiliary catalyst being roughly proportional to the concentration of said soap. Figure 1 gives the iodine numbers of oils as a function of the duration of hydrogenation. Application to the rapid and possibly complete hydrogenation of oils, even in the presence of soaps. |
