titleOfInvention PRACTICALLY LINEAR WATER-SOLUBLE INTERPOLYMER POLYELECTROLYTE PREPARATION PROCESS SPREADING AT THE INTERFACES
abstract A process for preparing substantially linear water-soluble interpolymeric polyelectrolytes. This process consists of: 1 degree in making a homogeneous polymerization in aqueous emulsion of a mixture of nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers, at least one of these monomers containing a reactive group, the polymerization reaction forming an interpolymer which contains functional groups non-ionic; and 2 degrees adding a coreactive compound to the aqueous emulsion in an amount sufficient to convert the interpolymer to a water-soluble polyelemylte. Usable as a surfactant for the preparation of styrene-butadiene latex.
