titleOfInvention | AIR-DRYING ALKIDIZED RESINS, LOW VISCOSITY, AND THEIR PREPARATION PROCESS |
abstract | The present invention relates to low viscosity, air-drying alkyd resins and their preparation. These alkyd resins are based on: a. dicarboxylic acids, b. non-drying monocarboxylic acids, c. drying fatty acids and d. at least one compound selected from the group formed by d. 1. Polyfunctional alcohols, at least trifunctional and d. 2. mixtures of d. 1.with up to 20% by weight of bifunctional alcohols, based on the total alkyd resin and are modified by an additional reaction with at least one monomeric / monofunctional oxirane compound and their viscosity is at most 450 mPas (in a xylol solution at 60% / 20 degrees C) and that their acid number is at most 15. They are prepared by reacting components a. to d. in the usual way, then by reacting the product obtained with a monofunctional monomeric oxirane. Application to the preparation of paints with a high dry extract content. |
