titleOfInvention ALKALI-GLASS REACTION INHIBITORS IN GLASS-REINFORCED CEMENT
abstract The invention relates to a mixture of glass reinforced cement. According to the invention, it exhibits resistance to the alkali-glass product reaction causing loss of tensile strength, and it consists of an inorganic cementitious binder containing at least one reactive alkali compound, a glass frame, and a scouring material reacting with alkali products, finely divided, the scouring material containing silica as a major constituent and having a reactivity with the alkali products contained in the binder which is significantly greater than the reactivity of the reinforcement in glass, so the alkaline products contained in the binder react with the scavenging agent in preference to the glass frame and the amount of scouring material, based on its silica content is at least in stoichiometric proportion with the products alkalis contained in the binder The invention applies in particular to fields requiring high tensile strength, such as the surface bonding of concrete blocks or else the forma tion of concrete products.
