titleOfInvention | GAS FORMALDEHYDE PURIFICATION PROCESS |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for purifying formaldehyde aimed at ridding it of the impurities it contains: such as water, methanol, formic acid which consists in bringing the formaldehyde containing the aforementioned impurities into contact with a liquid body or solid inert vis-à-vis formaldehyde, at a temperature chosen between - 20 and - 75 degrees C, at a partial pressure of formaldehyde vapor excluding its condensation. Under the conditions indicated, the aforementioned impurities are deposited on the contact body. This process makes it possible to carry out a thorough purification of the formaldehyde, the losses of formaldehyde being appreciably reduced compared with the known processes. The invention can be applied in the production of polymers and, in particular, in the manufacture of polyacetal resins. |
