titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR PREPARING DIENYNE ETHERS
abstract Prepn. of dienyne ethers of formula (I) comprises reaction of a cpd. of formula (II) with >=4 moles of NaNH2 or KNH2 in liquid NH3 (where R is 1-4C alkyl; X is halo; and A is opt. substd. phenyl). Prods. are intermediates for vitamin A. A typical cpd. 1-methoxy-3-methylhexa-1,3-dien-5-yne, was prepd. by reaction of 1,1-dimethoxy-3-methyl (II)-3-phenylsulphonyl-6-chlorohex-5-ene with potassamide in liquid ammonia.
