titleOfInvention REAGENT USEFUL IN THE SCREENING OF SYPHILIS AND ITS MANUFACTURING PROCESS
abstract Process for automatic syphilis detection uses an alcoholic soln. of cardiolipids dyed with a compatible dye, the alcholic soln. being satd. with the dye when hot esp. at 47 degrees plus-or-minus 1 degrees C. The reagent is storage, and the test is accurate and easily carried out. Typically the cardiolipid soln. is Kahn's or Kline's antigen and the dye is Amido black, Cerol black, Sudan black, Congo red or Ruthenium red. In an example, 45 ml of an alcoholic soln. of Kahn's antigen was treated with 145 mg Sudan black and the mixt. stirred at 47 plus-or-minus 1 degrees C for 20 mins. A preservative was added and the mixt. poured into 300 ml physiological saline at 47 degrees C. Satd. ammonium sulphate was added and the mixt. stored for 1 week at 4 degrees C, homogenised ultrasonically, and 1g choline chloride per ml of soln. added to decrease the number of flase results. When tested on an automatic appts. the results were 98.7% accurate.
