titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR STABILIZING THE HOT VISCOSITY OF A POLYMER COMPOSITION OF ETHYLENE OBTAINED AT LOW PRESSURE, AND RESULTING PRODUCTS
abstract Polyethylene extrusion compsn. comprises (a) an ethylene polymer with a melt flow index of 1.0 g/10 min and carrying is approx. 1 terminal vinyl gp/mol., and (b) a sufficient amt. of >=1 triphenylphosphine R'n-(Ar)- 3P (I) in which Ar = phenyl gp.; R' = halogen or 1-5C hydrocarbon gp.; and n = 0-5, to stabilise the viscosity of the molten compsn. The cpd. (I) distributes easily and homogeneously in the molten polymer and prevents viscosity rise due to crosslinking of the polymer in the molten state. The stabilised prods. are esp. useful for the extrusion of tubing and film.
