abstract Herbivorous animals are given feeds contg. 0.1-1.5% sodium diacetate (I), the feeds being corn to mixed feeds contg. over 25% corn. (I) is an attractant and enhances the taste threshold of the feed for cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats and fowl, so that feed intake is increased and the general health of the animals is increased.
