titleOfInvention | ALUMINOUS POROUS BODY OBTAINED BY AGGLOMERATION OF POWDERS |
abstract | Prodn. of porous refractory alumina agglomerates (for adsorption and catalysis applications) by moistening and agglomerating an alumina powder, and activating by firing is improved in that at least a part of the powder particles (>=15 wt.%) are prepd. by dehydrating a bayente-contg. alumina hydrate in a stream of hot gases (bayerite is alumina trihydrate). The use of bayerite results in very high mechanical strength of alumina agglomerate (up to 18 kg. per 3-4 mm. sphere) preserved to a certain degree at temps. up to 1000 degrees C (up to 7.3 per 3-4 mm. sphere). Combination of bayerite with other types of alumina have high macroporosity (total porosity may reach 0.95 cm3/g.) and specific surface area (up to 400 m2./g.). |
