titleOfInvention | PROCESS AND MACHINE FOR SEEDING OR PITTING FRUITS |
abstract | Automatic stoning and pip-removing process for fruits (e.g. peaches, guavas, melons etc.) comprises introducing a scoop between the two halves of the fruit and turning this around its own axis whilst accompanying the fruit moving on the conveyor. The graded fruit arrives by the chute and is seized by two parallel conveyors which carry cups; the fruit meets the knife and is cut into two halves which are carried forward opposite each other with a space between. The scoops, mounted on two chains, are introduced into this space, rotated by a rack and pinion and then withdrawn. The pips and stones are evacuated through the slot assisted by a stream of water. The stoned fruit halves, with the cut faces downwards, are carried by the conveyor beneath soda sprays which remove the skin. The process can be adapted for fruits of different sizes by altering the spacing of the two parallel conveyors and of the guides. |
