D-Carbamylamino acids and the corresp. D-amino acids are prepd. by enzymic hydrolysis of a cpd. of general formula: (where X=OH, hydrocarbyl, halogen, alkoxy, NO2 or carboxyl) at pH 8-9 and opt. then hydrolysing at b.pt. Enzymic hydrolysis is pref. carried out at 10-70 degrees C. The enzyme used is pref. hydropyrimidine-hydrolase derived from calves' liver. The products are useful as intermediates. |
