abstract | An anaerobic sealing compsn. contains (a) a polyacrylic ester monomer of formula: where R is H, 1-4C (hydroxy)alkyl or -CH2-O-C(O)-C(R')=CH2, R' is H, halogen or 1-4C alkyl, R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl, OH or -O-C(O)-C(R')=CH2, m and n are is not 1, p and q are 0 or i, r is is not 1, (b) an ammonium and/or alkali(ne earth) metal perchlorate and/or persulphate in amt. to initiate polymerisation in absence of air, (c) an accelerator in amt. sufficient to accelerate polymerisation in absence of air, and (d) a polymerisation inhibitor of the quinone type in amt. sufficient to retard polymerisation during storage in presence of air. The compsn. can be used of (stainless) steel and other passivated metal surfaces without corrosion. |
