abstract | The medical use of 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)butyric acid of formula (I) and its non-toxic organic or inorganic salts is new. Pref. compsns. contain 100-600 mg (I) or its salt plus vehicles or excipients appropriate for oral, rectal or parenteral administration. (I) has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities. It does not irritate the gastric mucosa, evan after prolonged administration and has a very low toxicity (no figures). A typical capsule contains 200 mg (I) Na salt; 35 mg talc and 5 mg Mg stearate. |
