titleOfInvention POLYARYLENEMETHYLENES AND THEIR PREPARATION PROCESS
abstract Novel polyarylene- methylenes (I) have the formula -(ar1-CH2)m-Ar2-(CH2-Ar1)n- (in which Ar1 and Ar2 are m+n = 2-30). used for modifying esp. plasticising polymers, as lubricants etc. (I) are soluble in numerous organic solvents and are stable at elevated temp. due to the absence or low content of functional gps. (I) are prepd. from aromatic cpd. (II) of the formula Ar(X)k (in which Ar is as Ar1 and Ar2; X is a functional -CH2Cl or -CH2OAlK gp.; K = 1-2) and a Friedel Crafts catalyst by reacting (II) with naphthalene, diphenyl or diphenyl ether in 20-90: 80-2 molar ratio, pref. in C6H14 or CCl4 as solvent.
