titleOfInvention NEW MEDICINES BASED ON DERIVATIVES OF APOVINCAMINIC ACID
abstract Pharmaceutical compsns. comprise (A) 1 apovincaminic acid deriv. of formulae (II) or (II') in any stereo-isomeric form: (Y = COOR, CON A or CN; R = an alkyl radical, Rx, of 1-10C; R3CO.CR1R2-; (CH2)n CH.(CH2)n- or ;R1 and R2 are each H or CH3; R3 = 1-4C alkyl; m is >=1 but is not >5; n is >=2 but is not >7; R4, R5 and R6 are H or CH3; A = 4-6C satd. alkylene, opt. substd. by one or more 1-6C alkyl and/or interrupted by heteroatoms such as O, S, NH or NR7 (R7= 1-6C alkyl) and (B) >=1 mono- or di-substd. benzoic acid deriv. (III), esp. salicylamide, o-acetoxybenzoic acid or the various isomeric diacetoxybenzoic acids and their salts, esters and amides. (II) and (II') are known vasodilators and tissue oxygenators (esp. in the brain) and (III) are known thrombocyte-aggregation inhibitors. The compsns. are useful in human or veterinary medicine to prevent thrombosis.
