TERN POWDERS WITH NITROGUANIDINE |
abstract |
Tertiary powder for large calibre weapons comprising 80-20 wt.% nitrocellulose, 10-45 wt.% polyvinyl nitrate and 10-35 wt.% nintroguanidine. the nitrocellulose pref. has high nitogen content to confer max. propulsive power. The powder is prod. by the well-known methods used for powders based on nitrocellulose, the prodn. being concluded by graphitisation to achieve a very hgh apparent density. Pref. a muzzle-flash dampening agent, eg. caclcium cryolite is added. The powder has use capabilities comparable with a powder based on nitroglycerine, nitrocellulose and nitroguanidine but has a lower burning temp. |
