titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR MODIFYING A POLYSILOXANE
abstract Polysiloxanes (I) contg. at least one dipolarophilic gp. other than a carbon to carbon multiple bond, of formula R'fRgSiO(4-f-g)/2 (in which R' = (Q)r(G)q and R=H or monovalent gp. f = 0 or 1 and g = 0-3 and (f+g) =3, Q = dipolarphilic gp(s), G = a bonding gp. with a valency of r+1 where r = 1-3 and q = 0 or 1 and the siloxane contains at least one gp. in which f =1), are modified by reaction with a cpd. (II) contg. at least one N-contg. 1,3-dipolar gp. Reaction can be used for a wide range of processes in silicone chemistry including chain lengthening, cross linking (e.g. in the formation of silicone rubbers) and the incorporation of active gps. into the polymer molecule, including those with anti-oxidant, antistatic, dirt repelling-chromophoric or biological activity.
