N,N-di(1-ethylpropyl)benzamides of formula (I): (where X,Y and Z are H, halo NH2, NO2 or 1-6C alkyl) are selective herbicides for pre- and post-emergence use, esp. for use against amaranthus, mugwort, fat hen, bindweed, cockspur grass, bristle grass and vetch in crops. such as oats, beet, dwarf beans, green peas, tomatoes wheat, maize and rice. |
