Corrosion of metals in aq. systems is retarded by a compsn. contg. (a) MOOC-(CR1R2)-COOM, (where R1 and R2 are OH, SH, NH2, H or COOH; m = 1-10; M is H or a cation which forms a water-sol. salt), and (B) Zn, a phosphate, a phosphonate and/or polymeric dispersant. The compsn. is free from chromate, and is in O2-contg. aq. systems. The pref (a) are tetrahydroxysuccinic acid and its di-Na salt, mucic acid, glutaric acid, xylaric acid, altaric acid, tartaric acid, and citric acid. |
