| abstract | Standard aq. solns. of, e.g. glucose, urea or potassium salts are used for comparison when dosing blood serum with one of these components. Inaccuracy sometimes occurs because of the higher viscosity of the serum. By adding polyvinylpyrrolidone (I) a soln. of the same viscosity as the serum can be obtained. Typically, 30-40 g/1 (I) are used when the mol. wt. is 25,000-30,000 and 75-100 g/1. when it is 11,000. |
