titleOfInvention Automatic seeding of culture media - for measuring resistance of bacteria and fungi to antibiotics
abstract Automatic appts., for measuring the resistance of strains of bacteria and fungi to antibiotics, comprises means for passing flasks contg. a culture medium along a slide-way with a view to seedint them with the microbial suspension to be tested and for their analysis. The seeding post has a carriage for the flasks associated with a counter-wt.; this tends to draw the carriage to the right of the drawing. This movement brings it under a 4-way tap, carried on a vertical platform which can move in the direction of the arrows. Two of the ways are connected to two trocars, one being turned towards the flasks and the other upwards to the ampoules carrying the microbial suspensions on a revolving platform. Another way communicates with the body of syringe contg. sterile cotton while the 4th way is connected to an aspiration system. A second post is provided with an identical slide and carriage; it is fitted with means for injecting a sodium chloride soln. and for collecting the CO2 from each flask and directing it to an analyser. Both the seeding and the analytical operations are entirely automatic.
