abstract A quantity of gas introduced into the extinguisher directly from a first source is sufficient to pressurise the equipment. This pressure keeps in balance the system controlling the gas, necessary for pressure in service, which arrives from a second source of compressed gas. The gas pressure from the first source can also be used to place into service a second source of gas under pressure. The system is particularly for use with carbon dioxide extinguishers and allows rapid pressurisation and maintenance of pressure at a constant level. The second source of gas (4) arrives through a pressure regulator (6) in the form of a spring loaded diaphragm (8) subject to the extinguisher pressure.
