titleOfInvention | Non-fragmenting tear-gas grenade - in which liq. is dispersed as an aerosol |
abstract | Tear-gas grenade consists of a body made from 0.3 mm thick mild steel sheet fitted with an internal gaine tube; this has a tread for fixing the igniting plug, with a 2.5 second delay, for explosing the mercury fulminate type detonator. The grenade is filled with 10 g of CS (Orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile), dissolved in dichlorofluoromethane, through a filling valve. For use the safety pin is withdrawn and the grenade thrown; the handle flies off and releases a striker in the igniting plug which fires the detonator. The filling plug is ejected and the central channel of the plug is freed for the passage of the active soln. which expands in about 10 seconds, under the thrust of the propellant, in the form of an aerosol. As the detonator only destroys the filling valve and clears the gaine tube, without destroying the grenade walls, no dangerous splinters are projected. As the lachrymatory fluid is dispersed are projected. As is highly efficient and there is no risk from droplets of the liq. |
