abstract The material contains from 20 to 60% by weight of SiO2 from 5 to 40% by weight of P2O5 from 2.7 to 20% by weight of Na2O from 0.4 to 20% by weight of K2O from 2.9 to 30% by weight of MgO and from 5 to 40% by weight of CaO In addition, it may contain from 0.05 to 3% by weight of fluorine as fluoride. The material is produced by melting a glass batch containing a calcium phosphate and the remaining components as oxides. The material recrystallises in the apatite structure. In this form, it has good organ compatibility and is particularly suitable for prosthetic purposes (bones and teeth). However, it can also be used as a porous sinter material and as a filler.
