abstract Snake serum dilutable with water, alcohol, talc, or an oily component, in e.g. ointments, pomade, face lotions, lotions or aerosols, etc. is incorporated in cosmetic prepns. in 0.01-50%, pref. 0.05-5 vol.%. Agent prevents dandruff, and hair loss. In an example, fresh blood collected from striped snakes by cutting their hearts alive, is added to 3.8% soln. of Na citrate, the mixt. stirred and stored, refrigerated for 10 hrs. The resulting supernatant is decanted to collect the serum portion, to which is added a small volume of an aq. soln. of carboxylic acid. Compsn. of tonic was: sepd. serum portion 10.0 cc; camellia oil 20.0 cc; salicylic acid 5.0 cc; hydrophilic ointment 100.0cc; and perfume trace.
