abstract | N-(3,3-Diphenylpropyl)-alpha-methylphenethylamine (I) and its acid addition salts (known coronary vasodilators) are produced in high purity and favourable yield by dissolving 1-(3,3-diphenylpropyl)-2-methyl-3-phenylaziridine (V) in a solvent and catalytically hydrogenating. (V) is produced by reacting 2-methyl-3-phenylaziridine with 3,3-diphenylpropionic acid in the presence of a dehydrating agent or with 3,3-diphenylpropionyl chloride to give (IV) and reducing (IV) with a reducing agent. |
