| abstract | Appts consists of an envelope with a movable cover and a container inside the envelope holds a charge of a ion-exchange resins of the type normal for water softening. Another container, at a higher level, serves as a regenerating chamber when required; otherwise the water flows straight through from two flexible tubes attached to the hot and cold taps of a kitchen sink. In use, the water, either hot or cold, flows through the appts. to the outlet tap. When the resin needs regenerating, granular NaCl is introduced into the regenerating chamber and hot water circulated through the whole system until all the brine has been removed and the resin rinsed by the water. The regenerated resin is now ready for re-use, can be fitted near any water source. |
