abstract Phosphate ester of formula (where R is alkaryl, R1 and R2 are alkaryl aryl or alkyl gps) which have been prepd. from POCl3 and alkylated phenols, are purified of colour forming 2,6-dialkylphenols by treating with >=1 mol PCl5 per mol. of free OH in impure ester. This converts phenols to arylphosphorochloridates which are then hydrolysed to alkali soluble arylphosphoric acids and hydrochloric acid which are sepd.
