The Mg-alcoholate of the complex Grignard cpd is not symmetrical as in parent patent but asymetrical: Cpds. of formula zXMgR.MG(OR')2(OR") are claimed where (R', R" and R' is (a) R'"O(CH2)m where R'" is lower alkyl or lower-alkoxy-lower-alkyl with >=2C, and m = 2-4) or (b) a tetrahydrofuryl residue, and R is hydrocarbyl, haloaryl, or XMgRo where RO is arylene or (ar)alkylene, z = 0.5-6 X is halogen, and R" (cyclo)alkyl or alkylene; R' may be the same as R" when R is XMgRo). Used in synthesis of carbonyl or carboxyl cpds. using hydrocarbon solvents instead of ethers. |
