abstract 1439992 Wax cleaning composition HOECHST AG 27 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30539/73 Addition to 1393158 Headings C5D and C5W A wax cleaning composition comprises (A) a surfactant and (B) an ester wax having an acid number of 0 to 5, obtained by reacting a straight-chain, saturated fatty acid having 16 to 36 carbon atoms with 50 to 250 moles of ethylene oxide per mole of fatty acid, (B) may be prepared from stearic acid, palmitic acid, industrial mixtures of such acids obtained by oxidation of micro crystalline waxes, polyethylenes and Fischer-Tropsch-waxes and crude montan wax especially one having an acid number of 60 to 150. The compositions may be aqueous and contain 1 to 20% of the wax (B). The ratio of surfactant (A) to ester wax (B) is in the range of 1 : 2 to 1 : 20. Optional additions are (C) inorganic builders especially alkali metal carbonate, silicate, pyrophosphate and polyphosphate; (D) organic sequestrants such as sodium nitrilo triacetate and sodium ethylene diamine tetraacetate. The compositions may be clear liquids or solids and, in use, are diluted with water to produce dilutions containing 2 to 5% of solids.
