titleOfInvention Resolution of cephalosporin esters - derived from 7-amino desacetoxy cephalosporanic acid
abstract Resolution of racemic esters of DL-7-aminodesacetoxy cephalosporanic acids of formula (I): (where R1 is 1-6C alkyl opt. substd. by >=1 Cl; or 7-15C aralkyl) is achieved by reacting the cpd. (I) with an optically active organic acid, separating the two salts obtd. and hydrolysing them to give the optical isomers of (I). Optically active acids include tartaric acid and derivs. malic, mandelic and camphorsulphonic acid. pref. acid is D-(-)-tartaric acid.
