titleOfInvention Pregnano-oxazepine compounds - with cardiovascular activity
abstract Title cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 is H or lower acyl; R2 and R3 are H or acyl; R5 is H or lower acyl; Y is O or H, OR2' in which R2' is H, acyl, alkyl or tetrahydropyranyl; and Z is O, H2 or H, OR4 in which R4 is H or acyl) are prepd. by treating corresp. cpds. of partial formula (II) (where X is halogen or a sulphonyl gp.) with a base in an org. solv. and opt. eliminating ester gps. and/or esterifying free OH gps. with the desired acid. (I) have hypotensive, diuretic and positive inotropic and myotropic action, and increase coronary blood flow and heart minute volume; they are esp. useful in the treatment of cardiac insufficiency. (I) are also useful as inters. for highly active steroid cpds., e.g. batrachotoxin A.
