abstract | Title cpd. which has antitumour activity, is prepd. by alkaline hydrolysis of gossypol anthranilate in the presence of an antioxidant, reaction of the hydrolysate with acetic acid, neutralisation with a soda soln. in the presence of antioxidant and recrystallisation. The yield and quality of the prodt. are increased by treatment of the alkali hydrolysate with conc. mineral acid e.g. sulphuric acid. The purity of the prodt. is increased to 98-100%. |
