titleOfInvention Improving feed efficiency of ruminants - using encapsulated halohydrocarbons
abstract Feed efficiency of ruminant animals is improved by oral administration effective amount (e.g. 2 g-2 kg, pref. 10 g-600 g. per ton of feed) of a free flowing powdered resin encapsulated volatile liquid or solid polyhalohydrocarbon of 1-6C with at least 2 Br or 2 Cl atoms (e.g. CHCl3, CCl4, CH2Cl2 or Cl3CCCl3). Such compsns. inhibit rumen methanogenesis without affecting overall rate of fermentation.
