abstract Accelerating agent for depilatory compsns. contains a copolymer (I) of N-vinyl lactam (alkyl-alkoxy or hydroxyalkyl substd.) and a semi-ester of an unsatd. carboxylic acid with (cyclo)aliphatic aromatic or heterocyclic alcohol where ratio of lactam to semi-ester is 1:1-99:1. (I) is a quat. N-vinyl pyrrolidone copolymer. Amt. is 0.5-15% pref. 2-8% of the compsn. The depilatory is Ca, Sr, Li or org.-thiolactate, thioglycolate or mercaptocarboxylate. Urea, dicyandiamide may also be present.
