abstract The polymeric additive is polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, methylcellulose or carboxymethylcellulose. The compsn. may also contain aggregates selected from expanded glass, expanded thermoplastic materials, expanded clay, expanded vermiculite and expanded perlite, a normal additive, such as alum, alkali metal sulphate, alginate, carraghenate, bentonite or diatomaceous earth, and also a flame-proofing agent selected from silicones or long chain fatty acids. The additive improves the mechanical properties of the plasters, in particular their density, their resistance to flexing, and their resistance to compression.
