titleOfInvention Standard dosing solns - for biological analysis contain macromolecular substances to increase viscosity
abstract Standard solns. for dosing biological liquids (in analysis) or other solns. of viscosity > water have a viscosity similar to the liquid being dosed. This is achieved by the addn. of synthetic or natural macromolecules, minerals, etc., inert finely divided, non-catalytic, and contg. nothing which could interfere with the dose. Examples are polyvinyl alcohols, polyethylene glycols, natural proteins freed from interfering substance. Viscosity of the stable standard solns. can be matched to that of the liq. to be dosed and prevents errors in automatic dosing.
