abstract | Catalyst for polymerising a 1,3-diene monomer in an aqs. medium is prepd. by mixing (I) 1 mole of a chelate cpd. of a group IIa, IIIa, IVa, IVb, Vb, VIb, VIIb and/or VIII, and (II) 0.005-500 mole of a sulphide, sulphone, thiol, dithiocarbonic acid derivative, dithiocarbamic acid derivative, carbonamide, lactam, cyanide cpd., carboxylic anhydride, sulphoxide, amine oxide or phosphine oxide. Process gives 1,3-diene polymers contg. >=30% of cis-1,4 bonds. |
