abstract | Strippers and solvent for hardened paints and varnishes contains an acetal of a diol of formula: (where R and R1 are H, CH3, CH(CH3)2 and n is 1-5. The acetal may be derived from formaldehyde (eg. 1,3-dioxolane) 30-90% (pref. 50-90%) of the acetal is used in ketone or ester soln. The acetals are physiologically harmless and have an agreeable smell. They are readily mixed with solvents and diluents. |
