titleOfInvention Hair treating compn contg polymeric fixative cationic - surfactant, collagen hydrolysate and an alkanol
abstract Hair treating compositions contg polymeric fixative, cationic surfactant, collagen, hydrolysate and an alkanol. M5-. which controls the hair and acts as conditioner. Specifically claimed fixatives are vinyl acetate/vinyl pyrrolidone copolymers and alkyl esters of methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymers. A surfactant claimed is stearyl-dimethyl-benzyl-ammonium chloride. The compositions contain 0.03-3% of surfactant and 0.05-15% of collagen hydrolysate of mol. wt. from 500-2500 with substantially all free NH2 and COOH groups blocked together with at least 25% of alkanol (C1-C4), esp. ethanol and isopropanol. Used as hair conditioner and fixative which is stable with aldehydic perfumes used in hair dressings. Used as a temporary setting composition, the fixative is easily washed out with a mild shampoo. Preferred compositions have an acid pH at which the conditioners (protein hydrolysate) are substantive to hair. May be used with aerosol propellants.
