Pigment consists of a base of fine mica plates whose surfaces contain needles of BiOCl in amounts of 10-75% by weight as a pearly glistening pigment. Made by using as a base an aqueous suspension of mica plates (10-100 u) containing a soluble bismuth salt and chloride ions to precipitate BiOCl and a pigment with 10-75% BiOCl content. Used in cosmetic preparation such as lipsticks, nail varnishes, face powders, hair sprays, eyelash and eyelids preparations etc. They are non-toxic and cause little skin irritation. |
