titleOfInvention | Oil-based depot compsns - mainly for parenteral administration |
abstract | Process for preparing a biologically active composition having a slow rate of release of active agent in which an aq. medium containing a water soluble or water suspended active agent is emulsified in an oil phase. The osmolality of the aq. solution is selected so as to obtain suitable delayed release. Delayed release is controlled by the oil phase of the emulsion acting as a membrane. Emulsions are stabilised using a suitable detergent. Prolonged release of biologically active agents, such as isoprenaline sulphate, chloroquine diphosphate, sodium methotrexate, arvin, ethidium bromide, sodium salicylate, sodium warfarin, neostigmine methyl sulphate, chlorpromazine HCl, methadone HCl, benzyl penicillin, ferrous sulphate, pentavlon, cephaloridine, nicotinamide, procaine penicillin, vinblastin, methadone HCl, adrenaline acid tartrate, morphine HCl, insulin, and heparin. |
