titleOfInvention | Liquid detergent |
abstract | A single-phase concentrated liquid detergent composition comprises (a) 25-40 per cent (by weight) of the product obtained by sulphating and then neutralizing with ammonia or alkylolsubstituted ammonia the product of general formula R(OCH2CH2)xOH, in which R represents an alkyl chain, preferably a straight chain, of 10-16 carbon atoms, and x has an integral value of 1-12 inclusive, obtained by condensing 1 mole. of a monohydric alcohol and 1-5 moles., preferably 2-4 moles., of ethylene oxide; (b) 6-12 per cent of mono- or di-alkylolamides, with not more than 3 carbon atoms in each alkylol group, of saturated fatty acids with 10, 12 or 14 carbon atoms; (c) 15-25 per cent of ethanol, n-propanol, or iso-propanol; (d) not more than 5 per cent of such extraneous substances as the sulphates or chlorides of ammonia or of the substituted ammonia used in (a), or unsulphated alkyl ethers or other reaction products; and (e) water to make up to 100 per cent. Citric acid may also be included in the composition. The alkylol - substituted ammonias which may be used in neutralizing the sulphated product to obtain ingredient (a), and which are reacted with fatty acids to obtain the alkylolamides (b), are preferably the ethanolamines, the propanolamines and the glycerolamines. The composition is said to be stable against clouding precipitation of solids and gelling. |
