abstract | The invention relates to a custom-made mouthguard (102) for athletes. The mouthguard comprises a flexible base structure (102) and a rigid substructure (104). The flexible base structure (102) is shaped to correspond substantially to an upper dental arch of a user of the mouthguard (100) so that a coverage area of an anterior part (202) of a palatal sidewall part (102a) of the base structure (102) is minimized. The rigid substructure (104) is shaped to correspond to the palatal surfaces of the upper teeth of the user of the mouthguard (100). The rigid substructure (104) is arranged within the base structure (102) against the palatal sidewall part (102a) of the base structure (102). The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a custom-made mouthguard for athletes. |
