This invention relates to a porous, malleable plant substrate and to a method of making the same. In the process, a lignocellulose-based raw material is used by forming fractions obtained from a fractionation of biomass, a mixture which is treated to produce a porous plant substrate. During the process, the material is foamed, shaped and heat-treated, and optionally carbonized and activated. The obtained porous plant substrate is suitable as a versatile plant substrate for different seeds. |
