abstract The invention relates to a method for treating a liquid sample comprising interfering iron and at least one organic compound of interest. The method comprises adding a reagent to a sample, which reagent comprises an ammonium salt, an alkali metal salt or an alkaline earth metal salt of hexacyanoferrate. The iron in the sample is allowed to interact with the reagent to form a reaction product, the iron reaction product is separated from the sample, and the amount of at least one compound of interest in the sample is determined. The invention also relates to the use of a hexacyanoferrate salt.
