METHOD FOR PREPARING A CONFORMED BIOMEDICAL DEVICE. IT CONSISTS OF: 1) COATING INORGANIC SUPPORT PARTICLES, WITH AN AQUEOUS ACID SOLUTION OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE GLASS PRECURSORS, BY AGITATION AND BY MILD GRINDING; 2) SEPARATE ALL OR PART OF THE WATER BY ATOMIZATION DRYING TECHNIQUES; 3) MOLD THE COVERED PARTICLES TO FORM THE CONFORMED DEVICE; AND 4) HEAT THE DEVICE BETWEEN 600 AND 1,500GC TO CONVERT THE GLASS PRECURSORS INTO GLASS AND SINTER THE PARTICLES. THEY HAVE APPLICATIONS IN THE IMPLANTATION OF PROSTHESIS IN PATIENTS, SUCH AS IN THE EYE, EARS AND IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM. |
